All over the UK record shops have closed down but with the resurgence in vinyl these shops are now in demand and we have our very own stockist on the 2nd floor of The Silver Arcade.
3 childhood friends Ben, Coops and Dan decided they wanted to make records available in Leicester city centre so they opened up their own store – ‘Out of Joint Records’. This is a specialist vinyl emporium stocking experimental electronic dance music, dub, reggae, avant-garde and leftfield music.
They always knew they wanted to open their own record store from a young age and once their record label (Grade 10) got them involved with the music industry that’s exactly what they set about doing. Their dream was to sell good music and other merchandise like clothing, art and magazines which complemented the music.
Being local lads, they like to support other Leicester folk and will often sell items from walk in sellers such as arts and magazines.
As far as clothing is concerned, they print some of their own Tee shirts in addition to stocking imprints from The Trilogy Tapes and Good Morning Tapes both of which are highly respected brands.
They also stock a wide variety of 2nd hand music so you may very well find that one item, you have been searching for everywhere, right in the heart of Leicester. You will never know until you visit the store again and again!
Out of Joint records also sells online but nothing replicates the experience of walking into a physical shop and being surrounded by your favorite interest especially with live music to add to the atmosphere.
